Although titled “Página em Branco” (“Blank Page”), Luís Buchinho’s new collection wrote another successful chapter at Paris Fashion Week.
In Le Laboratoire, a space where arts and science come together, Luís Buchinho made more than one experiment, a proof of his international success.
«It’s a work that we have been developing throughout the seasons and that is now reflecting in commercial sales», reveals Luís Buchinho that since 2009, supported by Portugal Fashion, shows his collections in Paris. «The position we have been earning in Paris, made us get to some interesting customers», he points out.
On the catwalk, fluid dresses and structured jackets and trousers came together in sophisticated and stylish looks, in a colour palette where paper-white, black, graphite-gray and blue-ink predominated.
A chromatic selection that came directly from the sketch books scenarios that underpin this spring-summer 2014 collection. «The concept comes from the drawings and research sketches I always do on white sheet, whether with graphite, pen or blue ink -of-china», justifies the designer.
Materials themselves follow this premise. «They are all very natural, like cotton, silk and linen, with a variety of cuts, from more fluids to more structured ones, and always with a very pure and very neutral appearance», he adds.
The goal is «to portray the fickle search of perfect silhouettes behind a number of sketches, drafts and notes», he explains. «A blank page is always the beginning of something new and so is also a filled page», concludes Luís Buchinho.
