Lisbon was the source of inspiration for the spring-summer 2014 collection by João Branco and Luis Sanchez, who recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of Storytailors.
For the warm season ahead, Storytailors propose a collection that is a hymn to the host city, which was revealed upon the return of the duo to Portugal Fashion last October, more precisely at the Portuguese capital. «It has to do with the icons of our city and also what foreigners perceive of our city. Lisbon is extremely luminous», explains João Branco.
«Lisbon is our city and we have worked here for 10 years now. Our atelier is in a building that withstood the earthquake and is itself a house of memories of this city. This collection is the appropriation of these memories, this iconography, this affective space and the purification of our tailoring work, in tune with the versatility of use of the pieces», they mentioned.
Light was joined by the Catholic symbols, because “the idea of faith and hope is a very positive thinking», adds João Branco. The lighter shades dominate in the dresses and sets of trousers with jacket, though sprinkled by black from the crows, a symbol of Lisbon, also in the pieces of jewellery designed by Liliana Alves.
On October 31st, the brand also celebrated 10 years of existence, with a special fashion show at Bes Art & Finance, which was attended by 700 people, among which were friends, the production team, journalists and guests. Some of the most iconic pieces by the duo strutted down the runway, as well as a capsule-collection for men — Alfaiate Valente. «It was unforgettable», summarizes the pair of designers.
