On the first day in the North, Storytailors, Anabela Baldaque and Luís Buchinho refreshed the runway of Portugal Fashion with their proposals for spring-summer 2013.
The first fashion shows of the 31st Edition of Portugal Fashion in Porto also debuted the new runway of the event, which abandoned the traditional Arquivo Room to occupy the space formerly occupied by Bloom. A new setting, in a simpler stripped environment, with fashion shows taking place amidst the pillars and rows of chairs, allowing a greater rapprochement between the audience and the designs.
Storytailors were the first to step on this new runway, with another chapter in the history of Miss Gold Star. Vichy, tulle and lace fabrics in white, red, grey and black, produced on the one hand, flowy dresses, and on the other hand, more structured sets, gathered in the collection that the duo called “AnarChic”. The graphic element of the star – «that is a symbol of the anarchic movement» – was on the spotlight, in dotted lines, patchwork and spray-paints.
Then followed “life again, please!”, by Anabela Baldaque, a rebellion of the designer against the crisis, where prints reigned to create an ultra-feminine collection, colourful and fresh, made up of light dresses, trousers with sequins and bright colours such as red or blue, suited to the warmer temperatures of the summer. «I wanted to convey lightness, a luminous reflection and a light at the end of the tunnel [the crisis], but with tranquility, with glamour. But I want life again, it has to come back», mentioned the designer.
The evening ended with the display of the Resort collection by Luís Buchinho, a collection inspired by the interior design, with architectural lines that showed elegance and sophistication, especially with the use of chiffon and silk satins. Skin tones and orange dominated the coats and dresses, almost all marked waist for frills, in contrast with pants fuseaux in gray and black. Today, from the 8:0 pm, is the time of Júlio Torcato, Elisabeth Teixeira, Katty Xiomara and Miguel Vieira rise to the catwalk of Alfândega do Porto with their proposals for the next hot season.
