The partnership of Alexandra Moura with Goldmud continues to be rock solid and, by its fourth collection, has shown evidence of its enormous potential.
“The first two collections were experimental for both parties. We have progressively consolidated the foundations for this partnership to become firmly established,” Alexandra Moura states, who still has an eponymous clothing brand.
The new collection of the designer for the footwear brand, which was presented at Portugal Fashion, was based on the number 4 and the geometric shape of a square. “It’s almost like going back to our origins. The collection has an almost primitive charge – the textures of animals, crocodiles, metals which go all the way back to prehistoric times, the actual heels were designed by us and are completely original,” the designer stresses.
On sale at her own boutique – Alexandra Moura Mais – in Príncipe Real, in Lisbon, the footwear line is also beginning to sweep through international markets, just is occurring with her clothing collections. “This internationalisation business is taking up a lot of time, because we are working with very demanding markets, with markets which are extremely strict in terms of timings and, therefore, absorb a great deal of our daily life,” she reveals.
The Asian markets currently represent the most enthusiastic customers of the creations by Alexandra Moura, who has an agent in Hong Kong and has made the first business contacts in Japan. Europe is also slowly beginning to succumb to the charms of the designer’s style. “The European customer is extremely fastidious and it takes a long time to conquer the buyer. But there is definitely demand, in that they want to understand the new collection, the materials that we use, and our prices,” she further notes.
The Nordic markets – namely Denmark, Iceland and Sweden – will be her next priority. “There’s a very interesting identification with our aesthetics. So, I think that this would be a market that would certainly also match our expectations,” the designer concludes.
