The brand resulting from the industrial know-how of Meamstyle and creativity of Ricardo Preto is increasingly international, as proves the collection for autumn-winter ahead.
“The world is mine!” was the slogan chosen by Meam by Ricardo Preto to aggregate the proposals for the next cold season. A collection marked by a contemporary look, where mobility was the starting point.
«Somewhere in a contemporary present, the world stirs in people who rotate among themselves and circulate through borders, continents and seas. They plot high-speed routes. They carry memories in vintage objects, they freeze the time patterns of landscapes, in static watercolours and in hairs paused in the wind», describes the designer. In the background, he concludes, «I did the collection with a fusion of nationalities and travels, which I called “the world is mine”. It is, in fact, as if it were a collection of objects from all over the world».
The collection mixes noble materials and a wide colour palette, among soft colours and stronger shades. «Silks, cottons, cloth are the canvases for the postcards that arrive from these trips», points Ricardo Preto.
Another milestone in this partnership, which was presented for the first time in Portugal Fashion in March 2011. «We fitted in very well. Ricardo adapted beautifully to the industry and we’re growing, gradually but sustainably», argues Maria do Carmo Mendes, Director of the company from Barcelos.
For the designer, who also has his eponymous brand, «working with a company like Meamstyle allows me to work with textile engineers, which I enjoy a lot more, because we start working from raw materials».
The next collection, for spring-summer 2013, is already being sold in showrooms and professional events in markets such as France, the Netherlands and Belgium, although the official presentation is scheduled only for the next Portugal Fashion, in October – therefore the details are still “top secret”.
