“Exotic” brings together the proposals of Luís Onofre for spring-summer 2013, a true explosion of colour that left many women yearning for the next warm season.
The only Portuguese designer of footwear and accessories to present his collections on the runway of Portugal Fashion in a solo fashion show, Luís Onofre proved, once again, why he is the public figures’ favourite in Portugal and abroad.
For the next season, the designer who is headquartered in São João da Madeira proposes “Exotic”, a multi-coloured collection, marked by very high constructions, stiletto or platform, in contrast with flat sandals. «What most draws the attention in this collection are the colours – an amazing colour palette: fuchsia, electric blue, mustard yellow and various shades of green, mixed with neutral colours», explained Luís Onofre.
«There is a novelty, which are the plexi heels with a gradient paint in the same colour as skin, and the use of noble materials, such as varnish, crocuses, suede, metallic gold and copper mixed together», he said.
As for the handbags, these remain relatively small, inspired in the retro style of the 70s, «in an imperfect pendant, because it’s not exactly the same material» as the footwear, stated Luís Onofre.
Being disseminated all over the world, the designer is currently betting on emerging markets to continue the internationalization of his eponymous brand. «China is still a priority market, as well as Brazil and the South American countries», he said. In fact, regarding the latter market, «we’re very happy with what’s going on there in terms of the rise in consumption, of wanting more, and that’s great for us», he added.
The United States, where he has clients like Michelle Obama and Paris Hilton, are also on the rise. «The US is starting to buy again in great force and that’s a good sign for things to recover quickly. I hope that is so», he concluded.
