Felipe Oliveira Baptista “got away” from tennis roots and led Lacoste brand to a walk into golf courses in the autumn-winter collection 2014/2015.
Chantaco, the golf course built in the late 20 by the father of René Lacoste’s wife, Simone’s Thion de la Chaume, was the starting point of Felipe Oliveira Baptista new collection, as documented in the picture book placed in the seats of the guests attending the show in New York Fashion Week.
«I wanted to shed light on a part of this golf heritage, which is very strong and very beautiful», explained the designer.
As a result, he captured «very soft, very natural» elements. Noble materials such as wool and cotton, predominate, but also appeared modern fabrics such as polyester and water resistant materials. «I also wanted something futuristic», noted Felipe Oliveira Baptista, mentioning his constant search for «balance between the past and the future».
The result is a number of sportswear proposals focused on outdoors and in nature, suitable with city life. Sweaters with stripes, tartan patterns and rhombuses define the silhouette, while jumpsuits inspired in aviator models bring casual elegance.
Overcoats include removable jackets to face the cold and integrate different details such as collars with rubber covers and waterproof closures. One of the highlighted pieces were long wool overcoats with smoothed out shoulders pads, designed for men and women who appreciate comfort and elegance
Two predicates that, together with sobriety, well describe Lacoste proposals for autumn-winter 2014/2015, dominated by dark blue, bordeaux, brown and green.
