In a true ode to women, Fátima Lopes made a Greek goddesses fashion show in the Hôtel National des Invalides.
“Odyssey” is the name of the collection presented yesterday by the designer on the penultimate day of Paris Fashion Week – a tour throughout Greek mythology temples and goddesses, transposed into textured silk and linen dresses in various shades of white and touches in gold.
In addition to ethereal dresses, the highlights were as well on “shoes”, also white. «It is the idea of a superior woman, who does not walk in shoes like the others, thence this risk taken on», explains Fátima Lopes, about the unorthodox creations paraded by her fashion models.
The end result is «a very feminine and romantic collection but, at the same time, strong, alternating between more elegant and voluptuous parts and others with more geometric shapes», explains the designer, that with this show, celebrated 15 years of presence on Paris catwalks. «They are 30 collections. Being here is the difference between having an existence or not for the fashion world, because this official calendar is truly what sets the visibility», she states.
«Doors are opening to a number of things that are happening and more and more my bet is internationalization», reveals the designer, which keeping a secret, ensures that she is preparing some big projects «and all pass through foreign countries».
Paris Fashion Week, where Fátima Lopes is supported by Portugal Fashion, is therefore important in her expansion plans. «It is the world coming to Paris to see the brands, to buy products. The French market is important but, more than that, it is what it represents», she says. «Not all the people that have came to see my fashion show are French, there are people of all nationalities», she points out. «Apart from that, the fashion show was broadcasted live on the Internet so at this time is already everywhere», she concludes.
