The painter and photographer George Rousse was the starting point for Luís Buchinho create a collection marked by a strong match of colours and materials.
«This collection aims to create some optical illusions in coordinated pieces, giving the idea that there is a fusion between jackets, pants and shorts», explains Luís Buchinho about his new autumn-winter collection for 2014/2015 presented in music institute IRCAM during Paris Fashion Week.
Giving sometimes the impression of being overlapped, coats were one of the key pieces of the designer proposals, who mixed different colours, materials and textures to create a certain element of surprise. «The whole collection is worked at a graphic, formal and material level with antagonistic textures and fabrics that conjugate in only one piece», he points out.
Under the name “Untitled”, the collection joins pleated wool, double-sided tweeds, leathers and leather finishes, knitted, patterned pleated and also fabrics typically associated to menswear.
«The materials are all quite evolving so, nowadays, more than forms, is the material that is worked out, because in fashion’s recent times materials are the big innovation», he considers. «I’m not saying that there are not going to be any innovations in the future but they already have a name. New materials are yet nameless and become quite exciting and modern», he adds.
In his colour palette, gray and black combine with stronger colours, such as bright pink, mixed roses and different shades of blue.
Present since 2009 in Paris Fashion Week, in Paris, Luís Buchinho have no doubt that this presence in the City of Light «is important for the brand’s internationalization, not only because generates a great feedback, but also because gives me status to parade in this fashion week, the most important one for me», he concludes.
