Before the start of the new school year, the Centro de Formação Avançada da Cova da Beira is ready to promote education with a high level of specialization in the community. Considering the entrepreneurial and employable strength of Twintex, António Mineiro was honoured with a room in his name.
As a result of a protocol between the municipality of Fundão, the Instituto de Emprego e Formação Profissional and a group of local entities and companies, the Centro de Formação Avançada da Cova da Beira was recently presented. According to the official press releases, future technicians from the region – trained in traditional areas such as textiles or in emerging sectors such as polishing – are expected to leave those classrooms.
Employing 420 people in the region and early supported by a holistic idea of environmental and social awareness, Twintex, in the person of its founder, António Mineiro, was honoured and the “Escola de Costura António Mineiro” inaugurated.
Company of people
Based in the city of Fundão, Twintex has a portfolio of 26 active clients in a geography spanning 12 countries.
«My parents and grandparents worked in the textile sector – I come from Covilhã, and at the time, Covilhã and the whole city centre were one single industry, there were only fabric factories. Let’s say that it is a journey that, necessarily, provides us with the contact with many people, different realities of life, and, whether we want it or not, we feel more awareness to also take care of people in a very special way», revealed António Mineiro in the edition of June 2016 of Jornal Têxtil, on the principles that always guided Twintex. «I always say that there is nobody who knows everything, we learn new things every day and we learn from others», he underlined.
The second generation – Bruno and Mico Mineiro – has continued the book that began to be written in 1979 by their father, but they never tire of adding chapters.
Twintex Eco Fashion, Twintex Academy, Twintex Life and, more recently, Twintex EVOlution are the innovation, training, sustainability and social responsibility projects implemented by the apparel company. Twintex Life, for example, builds on the company’s relationship with the internal and external community, and its star-feature is the Twintex Card, which gives discounts to employees at local services ranging from doctors to dentists, gym and also gas.
Not least, the Academy is a school within each factory that allows qualifying and re-qualifying human capital.
Focused on three large areas, agri-food, technology and precision industry, the Centro de Formação Avançada da Cova da Beira has recently opened and is prepared to welcome students in September, already having registrations for the various courses offered.
